Players Props expert Marcas Brennan has taken a look at the first round of NFL 2017-18 fixtures and picked out the best of the early player specials, including Touchdown Scorer picks, for week one of NFL 2017.

Todd Gurley to score a touchdown @ evens with Bet365

Todd Gurley to score the first TD @ 15/2 with Paddy Power

Todd Gurley is probably the most under rated player heading into the NFL season. Just 12 months ago he was high up on everyone’s fantasy boards and was heralded as the next Adrian Peterson after a fantastic rookie season with the Rams. That year he averaged 4.8 yards a carry, crossed for ten touchdowns and rushed for over 1,100 yards despite not starting in every game. Last year was undoubtedly a disappointment, but don’t be surprised to see him running with more force and vigour, as he has point to prove. The Colts don’t have the biggest front seven in the league and conceded an average of 4.7 yards per carry last year. Gurley will receive 20+ carries and should cross into the end zone at least once over the four quarters.

Russell Wilson over 270.5 passing yards @ 5/6 with bet365

The Packers and Seahawks matchup promises to be a classic and it would be no surprise if this game was a high scoring affair at Lambeau Field. Aaron Rodgers is excellent when playing on home turf and the Seahawks will need two things to happen in they are to win. They will need their defence to play at a different level and contain Rodgers in some way or for Russell Wilson to keep tabs with the Packers offence. Wilson doesn’t have the best of records at Lambeau, having lost his last two but he has looked impressive in preseason. In both games he had a passer rating of 120+ and the Seahawks will need him to be in similar form if they are to get the win in Wisconsin.

Julio Jones and Le’Veon Bell both to score a touchdown @ 7/4 with bet365

Two of the best players in the league look set for a monster day on the opening weekend and they are worth doubling up for odds of 7/4. Bell is in a contract year and has openly admitted that he expects to be one of the highest paid in the league. Players tend to play their best in these situations with the lure of huge offers at the end of the year proving a massive motivation. In the five times he has played against the Browns he has scored three touchdowns and he should make it four on Sunday. Meanwhile the Atlanta Falcons should score on at least three occasions on Sunday night and it has been reported that offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is trying to give Julio Jones more looks when they are in the red zone. One of the best wide outs in the league getting more chances to score touchdowns is a recipe for success, particularly against the Bears defence.

Martellus Bennett to score a touchdown @ 5/2 with Paddy Power

Bennett must feel like the luckiest tight end in the league after moving from Tom Brady to Aaron Rodgers in the offseason. When you leave the Patriots, you are generally moving in the wrong
direction. Yet, Aaron Rodgers is one of the best passers in the game and he loves big tight ends that are a good red zone target. Bennett has already hauled in a TD in pre-season and the early signs are
good. Last year he caught seven touchdowns on the season and 5/2 looks too big for one of the best at his position.

Carson Palmer and Matt Stafford both to have two touchdown passes @ 5/2 with Ladbrokes

Another match that promises to be a high scoring affair is the clash of the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals at Ford Field Stadium. The total points spread is just under the 50 mark and I’m expecting that to be surpassed by two quarterbacks who have the ability to really air it out when on form. Palmer had two or more touchdown passes in 9 of 16 games last year and that was marked as a disappointing season for the veteran, while Stafford will be brimming with confidence after signing a new contract with the franchise.
